Pistachios on Pizza? You're Nuts

Pistachios on Pizza? You're Nuts

That's right, we're putting nuts on pizza. But hey, it's got mortadella mountains which already have pistachios so we figured, why not add some more for a level of crunch. This pizza was actually incredible and we'd love to see where you take this one.

Video HERE, recipe below, as always #CookWild

Ingredients:

For the Pizza Dough:

  • We used the recipe from "pizza salad wine" cookbook (or use your favorite homemade dough)

For the Mortadella Pizza:

  • White onion, sliced
  • Mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • Mortadella, thinly sliced
  • Pistachios, shelled and roughly chopped
  • Graza Olive oil
  • Hot honey

Recipe:

Step 1: Prep the Pizza Dough

  1. Prepare the pizza dough according to the instructions from the "pizza salad wine" cookbook. Allow it to rise and reach its full, flavorful potential.

Step 2: Caramelize the onion

  1. Place bacon grease into a cast iron along with sliced onion and cook until soft and well...caramelized
  2. Add more butter if you're like us and your an absolute animal

Step 3: Shape the Dough

  1. Press down on the pizza dough on a floured surface, forming the crust around the side and then pressing down in the middle of the dough

Step 4: Assemble the Pizza

  1. We were using a Gozney Dome so we were rocking about 900 degrees (Or preheat your oven to the recommended temperature from the cookbook you took the dough recipe from
  2. Place shaped dough on a pizza peel
  3. Sprinkle a generous amount of cubed mozzarella over the dough
  4. Arrange thin slices of mortadella into mountain on top of the cheese
  5. Drizzle Graza olive oil over the pizza, enhancing the flavors as it bakes
  6. Sprinkle chopped pistachios for an added crunch
  7. Add caramelized onion to the pizza

Step 5: Bake to Perfection

  1. Follow the recommended baking time and temperature from the cookbook until the crust is lepparding and the cheese is bubbling.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

  1. Once out of the oven, generously drizzle hot honey over the Mortadella Pizza
  2. Slice, serve, and savor
